Modern speech dialog systems are as different from touch-tone applications (DTMF) as internet from videotext is. They are generally based upon NLU (Natural Language Understanding). That is to say, callers can speak in full sentences ("I would like to fly from Frankfurt to Berlin on Friday"), and the information is extracted from these sentences. It is during complex inquiries that NLU-based speech dialog systems are clearly faster, more convenient and more easy to use. Still DTMF can be chosen first with certain applications. Therefore, Clarity offers DTMF solutions as well as NLU ones. Please read more on the topics DTMF, IVR and NLU.
